Best Bowling Strike Rate in IPL
If one goes to a kid and ask what he wants to become in cricket, every kid will choose to become a batsman rather than a bowler. Such is the impact of batting in the Indian Premier League that has affected the minds of the youth. The power-hitting, the classy shots, and the boundaries have impacted the minds to become a batsman, However, those kids who dream to become a bowler have achieved the wonders in the world of cricket.
In the Indian Premier League, it is the batsmen who have been the game changers for most of the time. However, when the bowlers have shown up on the pitch, the opposition was completely decimated. For a bowler, it is wickets, economy, and strike rate that matters. In terms of bowling strike rate, it is the bowler’s ability to get the first wicket in their spell. Few part-timers have better stats compared to the full-time bowlers but it is the consistency that matters for the captain and the team.
In the glamorous league of the world, the South African pace merchant, Kagiso Rabada holds the record for the best bowling strike rate. He has represented only one team in his IPL career and has 54 wickets to his name. In 31 appearances, Kagiso Rabada holds the strike rate of 13 which means the bowler takes only 13 deliveries to make an impact on the game. The second place is adorned by the Indian left-arm fast bowler, Khaleel Ahmed who has a strike rate of 14.11 in 17 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The bowler has bowled at an economy of 8.92 and has claimed 27 wickets.
The list is further filled by the likes of Chris Woakes, Andrew Tye, and the veteran bowler, MF Maharoof who had played for Delhi Daredevils in the early seasons of the Indian Premier League.
If the top 10 bowlers with the best strike rate are to be considered, the list is dominated by the fast bowlers completely. Only one spinner has featured in the list, Imran Tahir who is currently associated with Chennai Super Kings. He has bowled with a strike rate of 16.05 in 57 appearances in the league. Also, the list is completely filled by foreigners apart from Khaleel Ahmed and Yo Mahesh. Even if the top 20 are considered, we can find only five Indians with Sreenath Aravind (RCB), Yuzvendra Chahal (RCB), and Amit Singh (Rajasthan Royals) making the cut.
Here are the top five bowlers played for different teams across the cash-rich Indian Premier League with the best bowling strike rates spanning 13 seasons.
