Best Debut Performances in IPL
Over the years we have seen some great performances from the youngsters in the IPL. IPL is the springboard for the young players and they leave no stones un-turned to prove themselves in the league. We will see about the best debut performances in the IPL.
#5) Alzarri Joseph
Alzarri Joseph had a fairy tale start in the IPL. He created history with the Mumbai Indians against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. After a wicket maiden in his first over where he dismissed the in-form David Warner, Joseph conceded just 12 runs out of his next 3 over’s and picked up another 5 wickets.
His figures of 4 over’s 12 runs and 6 wickets is now the best performance by a bowler in the IPL. Joseph surpassed the previous best of 6 for 14 by Sohail Tanvir in the inaugural season of the IPL.
#4) Brendon Mccullum
Brendon Mccullum made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was the opening match of the IPL. He played the inning of his life and scored a blasting century in that game.
He scored 158 runs from 73 balls which included 10 fours and over a dozen sixes. This changed the course of the game. He remained not out in this once in a lifetime innings. It was a dream start, not for just Mccullum but for IPL as well.
#3) Michael Hussey
Mr. Cricket Michael Hussey made his IPL debut for CSK against Punjab. It was also the first-ever match for CSK and he lived up to the expectations. Hussey scored a brilliant century in his IPL debut.
He scored 116 runs in 54 balls, which included 8 fours and 9 sixes. Hussey went onto became CSK’s most reliable player in the future seasons.
#2) Andrew Tye
Andrew Tye made his IPL debut against the Rising Pune Supergiants. He accomplished a rare feat in his debut by claiming a hat trick. He claimed the wickets of Ankit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary and Shardul Thakur for his hat trick. He finished by conceding 17 runs in his 4 over’s by taking 5 wickets.
There were two hat tricks taken on that day of the tenth edition of the IPL. He was the first bowler to take a hat trick on a debut. They also awarded Tye Man of the match in that game. It was a dream debut for any bowler.
#1) Jasprit Bumrah
Arguably the best fast bowler currently, Jasprit Bumrah made his IPL debut as a 19-year-old for the Mumbai Indians against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His slightly different high arm action worked wonders for him as RCB batsmen faced great difficulties facing him. Virat Kohli became his first victim and he was over the moon for it.
This was followed by the domestic legends Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair. He finished by conceding 32 runs in his 4 over’s and taking 3 wickets. Mumbai lost that game by close margins but Bumrah left an impact.
