MI vs CSK Match Prediction for IPL 2020
Two of the most successful teams in Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will take on each other in the opening match of the thirteenth edition of the league. Two biggest heavyweights will be seen up against taking on each other in what could be perceived as another promising clash between the rivals. The last time when both these two teams met, it was the final of 2019 edition of IPL. The match went down to the wire, with Rohit Sharma and Co. eventually winning the game by just one run.
MI vs CSK PREDICTION: How the teams are looking ahead of the IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two teams who don’t make too much tinkering to their units, and this year too, both the teams haven’t made too many changes either.
# Mumbai Indians (MI)
With Mumbai having already ticked most of the boxes, there wasn’t much to do for them in the auctions. They bought the services of Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile to add strength to the top-order and bowling department respectively. With Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, and Chris Lynn at their disposal, the team looks solid at the top of the order, while in the middle-order positions, the likes of Surya Kumar Yadav and Keiron Pollard would look to do what they have been doing for years for the franchisee. The reason why they have been so successful over the years is because they have some serious finisher in Hardik Pandya, Keiron Pollard and Sherfane Rutherford who could give the late flourish a side needs in the end. With the addition of Nathon Coulter-Nile and Trent Boult, Mumbai Indians’s bowling department looks even more dangerous. Predicting Mumbai Indians’ chances this year, one wouldn’t disagree that Rohit Sharma would guarantee a top 4 place this year as well, given the kind of fire-power they have.
# Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Given how their batsmen performed last season, one wonders how did they not go for a proper batsmen in the auction. Rather, they added another spinner in Piyush Chawla for a whopping 6, 75,00,000 in a team which already had so many spinners. Experience does count in any form of the game, but in a format where you need an attacking mindset coupled with top-notch fitness levels, a side like CSK is likely to struggle. Barring Faf Du Plessis, no other batsmen in the top five is playing International cricket and are over 30. If not another Dhoni’s masterclass show this season, CSK might not see in the finals. Predicting Chennai Super Kings’ chances, they certainly won’t go as favourites, however, given MS Dhoni’s leadership skills and cricket acumen, you cannot completely take this team out of equation.
MI vs CSK Match Prediction: Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have played as many as 30 matches against each other in the history of Indian Premier League. Mumbai have been the better side, winning 12 out of them whereas CSK have managed to win 12.
