New Zealand National Cricket Team

Full Name: New Zealand National Cricket Team
Nick Name: Kiwis, Black Caps
Founded: 1930
Ground: Christchurch Cricket Ground

Team Owner: Cricket Australia

Captain: Kane Williamson
Coach: Gary Stead

Perhaps, one of the unluckiest cricket teams in cricket, New Zealand started their journey since 1930. The Black Caps played England for the first time in Christchurch and were the fifth country to feature in Test cricket. However, New Zealand had to wait 26 long years to register their first-ever test victory in 1956. New Zealand won against West Indies at Eden Park in 1956.

According to the standard sources, to date, New Zealand have played 1300+ games with a win percentage close to 39%. Despite no World Cup and Champions Trophy to their name, Black Caps are second in Tests, third in ODI and 6th in T20 Internationals as released International Cricket Council. The team was disheartened when they lost to England in Cricket World Cup 2019 on the boundary count after tying the match both in 50 overs and super over.

Board Members: The New Zealand Cricket looks after the governance of the national team and domestic operations across New Zealand. New Zealand Cricket Council was founded in 1894 in Christchurch and the headquarters continue to be at Christchurch only. NZCC has an operating income of close to $130 million.

The Board Members are as follows:
Debbie Hockley (President)
Greg Barclay (Chairman)
Geoff Allott (Cheif Executive of Quality)
Liz Dawson (Marketing Director)
Jackie Llyod (Board member)
Don Mackinnon (Chair of NZC’s High-Performance Advisory Group)

Team Captain: The cool and calm, Kane Williamson leads his side from front in all the three formats of the game. He led the team to Cricket World Cup 2019 finals just to see his side getting defeated on the basis of boundary count. Though he became the captain test side from 2016, T20 International captaincy has been his forte since 2012.

Team Coach: Gary Stead is the current head coach of the New Zealand national team. Recently, Peter Fulton stepped down as the batting coach who was with the team since August 2019. The former Australian cricketer, Shane Jurgensen is the bowling head coach. Former New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman, Luke Ronchi is the wicket-keeping coach of the team. Luke Ronchi recently retired from all formats of cricket. The strength and conditioning of the players are looked after by Chris Donaldson, the former New Zealand sprinter.

Support Staff: New Zealand cricket is managed by efficient people of NewZealand. Mike Sandle looks after the team as a team manager whereas Paul Warren supports the team and enhances their performances by his analysis. Paul Warren works as a Performance Analyst with Newzealand cricket.

On the media and PR front, Willy Nicholls looks after the team as a media correspondent. Tommy Simsek is the current physio of the Newzealand team who is one of the main reasons behind the fitness of the Black Caps.

Jersey: Newzealand have worn the black jersey and are well known as Balck Caps because of their jersey color. The ODI jerseys are completely black and the T20 International jersey has more grey tinge in their jersey. During the olden days, Newzealand has worn the shades of gold, grey and blue-black too.
